Survival Guide for WW

29 May
  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! There are water coolers at event activities throughout the site.
  • Bring healthy, durable snacks to tide you over when you forget a meal.
  • Bring cash for the 4H ice and firewood and food truck!  There is no ATM on site though there are ATMs at gas stations close to the site.
  • Bring a hat!! There’s some shade but not a lot.
  • Remember to put lids down in the porta potties and leave them up in the flushies.
  • RV Dump Site. There is an RV dump site on the Fair Grounds.
  • There are a lot of mosquitoes this year! This site does not get sprayed! Here are some mosquito control ideas.
    • Spray repellent
    • Bug bracelets
    • Mosquito coils
    • Fans placed at ground level. Mosquitos are weak flyers because of their light weight. The breeze from the fans makes it difficult for them to fly. Even battery powered fans work. Mosquitoes gather under tables and chairs protected from the breeze. A fan at ground level helps remove them.
    • See this site for info about camping and mosquitoes:

  • Storm Shelters: There a few places on site where you can shelter for severe weather,
    • The Class Pavilion.
    • The two permanent shower/bathroom buildings.
    • In the event of a tornado, take shelter under the Grand Stand across from Straw Boss.
  • Bring trash bags for your trash. Place trash in the dumpsters.
  • People Mover! The people mover travels around the site. You can find the map of the route at various places around the site.
  • Be prepared for rain!  Bring tarps to put under your tent and take whatever other precautions you feel are necessary.
